Bahrain expo, convention centre on track for 2022 delivery

Bahrain's Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has announced that work was in full swing on the new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) project coming up on a 309,000-sq-m area in Sakhir.
The project includes 10 state-of-the-art exhibition halls spanning a total 95,000-sq-m area, ideal for hosting international events and exhibitions in addition to the 4,500-sq-m main conference centre that has a capacity for 4,000 people.
Set for delivery in the second quarter next year, the new BIECC premises will also feature a number of meeting rooms and multi-use halls, said the ministry in a statement.
Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Board Chairman of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA), paid an inspection visit to the new BIECC project site.
Al Zayani was briefed on the ongoing work at the mega expo and convention centre, which is considered one of the biggest ventures carried out by BTEA.
The minister was accompanied by BTEA Chief Executive Dr Nasser Qaedi and Cebarco Board Chairman Khalid Abdulrahim. Bahrain-based Cebarco is the main contractor on the project.-TradeArabia News Service
