Volvo to unveil EX90 flagship electric SUV in 2024
DUBAI, December 20, 2022
Al-Futtaim’s Trading Enterprises, the official representative of Volvo Cars in the UAE, will introduce the much-anticipated EX90 flagship electric SUV in 2024, slated to be the brand’s safest creation till date.
The new Volvo EX90 all-electric flagship SUV ushers a new era of safety and reliability. Innovation remains the brand’s key driving force and is reflected in every facet of this vehicle. Included in this forthcoming model, is the new radar system that ensures that no one gets accidentally left behind in the car, said a statement.
“Over the years, Volvo cars has earned the recognition to be one of the safest vehicles to be on the road. For the internationally renowned Swedish car manufacturer, safety is not a marketing exercise or another regulatory hurdle to clear. It’s at the core of their purpose as a company,” it said.
Humanising the experience
The development of the vehicle’s safety technology is based on understanding human behaviour, rooted in decades of the company’s own and others’ safety research. The Volvo EX90 comes with an invisible shield of safety that includes the company’s latest sensing technology, allowing the car to understand the user’s state of mind and the world around her/him.
World-first interior radar system
A new interior radar feature developed by the company’s engineers is designed to be accurate and sensitive enough to detect the tiniest movements at sub-millimetre scale – such as those of a sleeping toddler. It’s the first such feature to cover the entire interior of the car, including the trunk.
With sensors integrated in the overhead console, the roof-mounted reading lamps and the trunk of the car, the new system is the first that can detect sub-millimetre movement in the entire interior of the car. To cover as much of the cabin as possible and sense whether a child or pet has been left in the car, spaced radars have been installed throughout the cabin from front to back, including the rear trunk.
Tireless sensors
State-of-the art sensors like cameras, radars and LiDAR, all powered by the company’s core computing platform and software, work together to create a 360-degree real-time view of the world. The sensors don’t get tired or distracted. They are designed to respond and react when the user is just a millisecond too late. The LiDAR senses the road in front of the driver, whether it’s day or night, also at highway speeds. It can see small objects hundreds of metres ahead, creating more time to inform, act and avoid.
“Our research indicates that our software and sensors can help reduce accidents that result in serious injury or death by up to 20 per cent. Likewise, we estimate we can even improve overall crash avoidance by up to 9 per cent, which could lead to millions of accidents avoided over time. That would be a big step in safety and for mankind,” the company says. – TradeArabia News Service
