Haramain Railway to resume operations from March 31
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, March 15, 2021
Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High Speed Railway has announced that booking and issuing tickets to travel aboard the train are available through the railway’s website from today (March 15), prior to resuming operations on March 31.
Trips will operate from and to the stations of Makkah, Madinah, King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Rayan Al-Harbi, Deputy Director of Haramain High Speed Railway and Holy Places, said: “The decision to resume trips of the Haramain High Speed Railway between Makkah and Madinah on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 was made after ensuring the railway’s preparedness for operation and checking on safety standards to guarantee safe operation in preparation for receiving Umrah performers and visitors, in addition to ensuring full preparedness to this year’s Hajj season.
“During the stoppage period, stakeholders made sure to sustain the proficiency of workers at stations and trains through continuing experimental trips on the course of the railway to ensure their preparedness to continue work upon resuming operations.”
He noted that resuming the train operation will be with high efficiency and big occupancy rate through connecting four stations with speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour.
Tickets will be available for booking through the website of the railway in synchronization with announcing the new schedule of trips, he explained, stressing that the stations and train cars will undergo precautionary measures to guarantee the safety of passengers and limit the spread of the pandemic.
