St Petersburg roadshows in UAE draw huge interest

DUBAI, November 16, 2023

Visit Saint Petersburg recently showcased its latest travel offers to the UAE travel trade during roadshows in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

These events, organised by the Committee for Tourism Development of St Petersburg and the City Tourist Information Bureau, featured engaging B2B meetings, insightful presentations, delightful classical music, and Anna Pavlova dessert masterclasses.

The roadshows brought together 12 representatives from various sectors, including Pulkovo Airport, DMCs, hotels, the Vodokhod river cruise company, and the Faberge museum, allowing them to showcase their programmes and foster direct connections with local counterparts.

In Abu Dhabi, the first day of the roadshow at the Conrad hotel saw participation from over 65 representatives of the local travel sector on October 30. This event coincided with the recent launch of Etihad's daily flight from St Petersburg to Abu Dhabi, enhancing connectivity between the regions.

In Dubai, the St Petersburg event drew over 120 participants from the region's vibrant tourism industry. Discussions covered an array of topics, from Russia's latest e-visa programme to presentations by key players in St Petersburg's travel scene.

Attendees at the roadshow were introduced to St Petersburg's new attractions, classic programs, and the city's evolving tourism landscape. They gained insights into the city's historical landmarks, architectural wonders, event calendar, educational and religious routes, and more. Of particular focus was the facilitation of direct flights to the northern capital.

The attendees included tour operators, professional associations, airlines, MICE event organisers, and specialised media representatives from the Middle East.

This roadshow is an integral part of the comprehensive information campaign led by the city’s tourism authorities. Their efforts include participation in travel exhibitions, establishing a Visit Petersburg office in Dubai, and various other marketing initiatives aimed at sustaining interest in St Petersburg as a premier tourist destination, said a statement.

In recent years, there has been an increased interest in St Petersburg among tourists from the Middle East. Discerning guests from this region are attracted by the comfortable hospitality infrastructure of the city on the Neva river - with luxury hotels, first-class restaurants, including those with halal cuisine, parks and many places where you can spend time with your family. In addition, a significant part of the tourist flow from the Gulf countries is made up of business tourists who consider St. Petersburg as one of the key areas of business tourism in Russia. – TradeArabia News Service
