TEREX Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), a business segment of the Terex Corporation, has boosted its expanding line of generators with the new Terex T240, redesigned T180, and the T50 Super Quiet models.
A Tier-3-compliant Cummins engine, permanent magnet generator (PMG), 110 per cent environmental spill containment and a shared user interface with all Terex generators are standard on both the T240 and T180 models.
“The new T240 satisfies a market need within the Terex generator product line, providing users with an affordable generator option at 190 kW (237 kVA),” says David Spears, product manager, power products at Terex AWP. “The redesigned T180 features a new cabinet design with impressive additions such as the double-walled 110 per cent spill containment feature ensuring all onboard fluids – including fuel, are containable in the event of a spill. In addition, the new overlapping sheet metal design of the cabinet on the T240, reduces noise and water ingress.”
“The new T240 generator is not only capable of powering a tower crane, but highly competent at regular construction sites. These model additions are part of our bigger movement to simplify Terex generators, allowing fleet owners to benefit from parts commonality, consistency in maintenance, cleaning and more,” he adds.
The T240 and T180 can be utilised simultaneously from three-phase and single-phase receptacles. As with all Terex generators, user safety is a top priority. Power distribution is electrically interlocked to ensure that all power to the distribution board ceases when the door is open. The standard-issued PMG provides users with excellent responsiveness, serviceability and isolation, he adds. Due to simple, single-bearing construction, the PMG allows for ease of disassembly and service when maintenance is required. In addition, both models have large engine bay doors and panels, which provide easy access to serviceable areas like the generator and electrical components.
T50
Like the T240 and T180, the T50 is designed with customer needs in mind, features 110 per cent spill containment and shares a single-user interface with the entire Super Quiet line of generators, building in simplicity for fleet applications.
“It is central to Terex to design-and-build generators that not just meet, but exceed customers’ expectations – generators that really add to a customer’s equipment portfolio,” says Spears. “We’ve built in value with standard features like a dependable, top-of-the-line Kubota engine, simple, user-friendly controls and 110 per cent spill containment to deliver to those expectations.”
The T50 is powered by a reliable Tier-4-compliant 63.7 hp Kubota diesel engine, efficiently supplying portable power on demand to a wide variety of applications. It offers operators single-phase, three-phase and simultaneous single- and three-phase operation for maximum flexibility of power needs. Three-phase voltages include 208/220/240/440/480 while single-phase voltages are 120/240.
“At 66 decibels, the Terex T50 generator is quieter than a common household vacuum cleaner, but still boasts a powerful system output of 49 kV amps (39 kW) of prime three-phase power. A mechanical governor controls frequencies to an accuracy of +/– 4 per cent. For applications where tighter frequency regulations are required, an optional electronic governor is available,” he says.
The design of the Terex T50 cabinet and base is engineered with operators in mind. A removable rear panel allows operators and service teams to easily service the generator, electrical components and other service points. Overlapping sheet metal housing reduces noise for quiet operation.
The T50 is built with simple, effective operation in mind. Step-by-step operating instructions are mounted on the control panel door. Like all Terex Super Quiet generators, the T50 features a generously-sized fuel tank for more than 24 hours of continuous operation.
Customers can customise their Terex T50 generator with a wide variety of value-adding options, ranging from a cam-lock distribution panel for tool-less set-up to options such as a block heater and 1000 CCA battery to aid cold weather operation.
With the T240, T180 and T50, users are able to easily monitor all electrical loads and engine functions through an analog gauge package. The controller presents a simple user interface including manual and automatic settings.
The three models are all backed by Genie 360° – a complete collection of value-added services including technical support, reconditioning services, training and more. The T180, T240 and T50 are currently available in North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
