Versace has launched the Boutiques in Dubai Mall and announced the structural completion of the Dh2.3-billion ($610 million) Palazzo Versace project that is expected to open at the end of this year.
“The Versace Group is 100 per cent committed to this project and we foresee it will be a huge success. Nothing equivalent has ever been built in Dubai to date,” said Versace president Santo Versace, who was in Dubai to celebrate the launch of the Boutiques and to inspect the structural completion of Palazzo Versace.
Soheil Abedian, managing director, Emirates Sunland Group and president of Palazzo Versace commented: “Palazzo Versace Dubai is now over 60 per cent build complete. The interiors are truly magnificent, with the majority of finishes forming beautiful handcrafted mosaics designed in conjunction with the renowned Italian mosaic company Fantini Mosaici Group.
“The external landscaping, along with the inclusion of the luxurious swimming pools will soon start, as this landmark on the historic Dubai Creek continues to take shape.
“The main structure of Palazzo Versace Dubai is effectively completed and we are very proud of the architecture, which embraces Islamic and Arabic architectural features combined with the unique Versace design style. This grand building can be viewed as a centrepiece of the Culture Village, which is designed to become Dubai’s cultural hub, housing cultural institutions for opera, ballet, theatre and fashion shows, complete with academies for art, music, dance, pottery and other crafts.”
The Palazzo Versace Dubai is a 5.5-hectare development that will provide a collection of 169 private residences and 217 super-luxury hotel suites, all furnished with Versace Home furniture and housed in a 130,000 sq m palace. It will also feature a Vanitas fine dining room, a health spa, gymnasium, ballroom, convention facilities and Versace boutique, set in landscaped grounds complete with a private beach and marina.
The construction of the development’s 1.4 million sq ft concrete frame, equivalent to the height of 12 storeys at its apex, is effectively complete. The windows and glazing are 75 per cent completed on the hotel and private residences. The floors of entire hotel and its facilities, located in the main central wing, and the floors of the Ala Sinistra and Ala Destra (the left and right wings) for the private condominium residences are also now completed.
As the project enters its final phase of construction, the total number of workers on site has grown to approximately 1,500 people.
Emirates Sunland Group is building Palazzo Versace under a joint venture agreement with Dubai-based Arabtec.
