Dinolift’s new aerial platforms may have grown smaller, but they feature ‘up-and-over’ capability, making them suitable for confined areas

Dinolift, a leading Finnish manufacturer of trailer-mounted aerial work platforms, recently launched a number of new products which were exhibited at the Big 5 show in Dubai last November.
These include XTC series crawler-mounted aerial work platforms, self-propelled RXT series Dinos for rough terrain, battery-powered trailers and narrow aerial work platform.
The new XTC crawler models are narrow and compact, having been designed for rough-terrain applications, according to Pasi Uusi-Kuitti, sales director. “Thanks to the excellent gradeability which is about 43 per cent, the machine is easy to use in confined areas. Also, due to low ground pressure, the machine moves even on the softest grounds. The outriggers raise the machine up to one metre, and can be set up even on difficult ground. The narrow support width with fast and easy outriggers enables efficient and versatile use of the crawler. A self-levelling system is available as an option,” says Uusi-Kuitti.
With a powerful driving system, the machine is agile even on the toughest work sites, he adds. The tracks are controlled proportionally. “For indoor use, it is possible to assemble white tracks (option) to avoid marks on the floor. The transport width is only 115 cm.
“Thanks to the construction of the chassis, the Dino 185 XTC is stable even when driving on sloping ground with an inclination of 16 degrees. Modern design renders the crawler appealing to the eye while ensuring that the regular servicing points are easy to reach.
“The XTC models have our popular XT-boom for ‘up-and-over’ access. Two simultaneous movements of the boom can be operated proportionally with two joysticks in the spacious basket. The work target can be reached fast with maximum movement speeds (EN280). An electric motor drive is available as an option for indoor use to avoid disturbing noise,” he says.
Dinolift started manufacturing the 165 XTC and 185 XTC series last August to meet the demands of the access equipment market. The company has also launched the self-propelled 205 RXT, 240 RXT and 265 RXT for rough-terrain applications. The new series is said to be lightweight, agile and easy to use on rough terrain.
“Although lightweight, the machines have a great sideways outreach as a result of accurate weight distribution. The hydraulic outriggers enable horizontal positioning of Dino RXTs even in difficult ground conditions and the work target can be accessed from the most suitable location. Thanks to the light weight, the machines can work on weak soils and they are even light enough to be lifted up to work at a multi-storey building. As with the other XT-models, the combination of telescopic boom and articulated riser assures access to difficult work positions, even over obstacles. The boom movements are proportional and can be operated simultaneously,” says Uusi-Kuitti.
Other recently introduced products include the battery-operated Dino XTB-models 135 TB, 150 TB and 180 TB, offering the same features as TB-models, but enhanced with articulated boom. The unique ‘up-and-over’ capability provides easy access over obstacles.
The new models are compact and easy to use. Proportional steering and telescopic boom secure stable and close access to the work target even at long outreach and the hydraulic outriggers enable quick and easy set-up, he says. The driving system and the basket rotation are standard as in all Dino models. Although equipped with a battery case, the machines are lightweight and therefore easy to tow and move at the work site.
The machines can be used wherever mains power is not available. They also tolerate a wide variation of mains voltage and can be operated even when charging the batteries, Uusi-Kuitti points out.
With the new battery models, environmental aspects are taken into account as the machines are energy-saving since the motor is operation only when using the boom function.
Another innovation from Dinolift is the new narrow aerial work platform 120TN.
“The machine represents the typical and acknowledged features of the Dino family. The machine is easy to use, lightweight and compact. The strong boom with long horizontal outreach is composed of three sections, which accounts for the short transport length of merely 5.5 m. Towing the unit with a standard passenger car is easy since it is light in weight (1,350 kg). The basket carries a weight up to 120 kg within the entire sideways outreach of 7.9 m,” he says.
The product also features a round one-man basket, which is fitted to the narrow model and offers a user-friendly working environment for the operator. In the basket is a large space for tools and the round form secures easy access to constricted corners.
The axle can be moved to a narrow position hydraulically with the push of a button – the lift changes into narrow mode automatically. The outriggers can be easily turned alongside the chassis after releasing the locking by a handle. The narrow 120TN is only 88 cm wide.
Dinolift started producing platforms more than 30 years ago and has manufactured over 7,000 units to date. To meet the increasing demand for its machines, the company recently expanded its production facilities by 3,500 sq m. Also a new production line has been added, which has helped to shorten the production cycle. More than 75 per cent of its units are exported to more than 40 countries.
