New Genie telehandler in limelight

01 February 2010

Genie’s latest rotating telehandler – the GTH-4018 SR – will be among the highlights of Terex Corporation’s line-up of 50 machines at bauma 2010 in Germany.

Products from the company’s aerial work platforms, construction, cranes and materials processing and mining segments will be on display at the construction equipment show to be held in Munich, from April 19 and 25.

The telehandler was introduced by Terex Aerial Work Platforms last year alongside the GTH-4016 SR and targets the rental market.

The GTH-4016 SR and the GTH-4018 SR are highly versatile machines, designed for lifting and placing heavy loads in rental applications.

“These high-reach, rough-terrain telehandlers have a rotating turret that can be used to handle the load without having to reposition the entire machine, helping operators save time,” says a spokesman for the company.

The GTH-4018 SR model has a maximum height of 17.54 m, a maximum lift capacity of 4,000 kg and can lift up to 500 kg at a maximum forward reach of 15.53 m. The GTH-4016 SR model has a maximum lifting height of 15.42 m, a maximum lift capacity of 4,000 kg and can deliver an impressive lift of 700 kg at a maximum forward reach of 13.35 m.

“With an excellent lifting capacity and horizontal reach, these models are ideal for many applications and can lift substantial loads such as steel, masonry, and bricks around the worksite. With the choice of adding attachments according to working needs, there are a wide number of options available, making these machines an excellent value for the money,” he adds.

A dedicated stability control system is standard on all Genie telehandlers, with a hydraulic accumulator to smooth out shocks while operating the boom. The machines also have three steering modes: front-wheel, crab and coordinated, along with a powerful 74 kW Perkins engine which enhances their manoeuvrability on rough terrain.

The GTH-4018 SR is equipped with a patented double-effect stabiliser system, which further extends the machine stability area, therefore improving its lifting capacity.
