Berger sounds lead alert

01 June 2010

BERGER Paints has launched an aggressive campaign across the GCC to alert residents about the harmful health effects of lead-based paints and put their toxicity in the spotlight.

Both the World Health Organisation (WHO) and US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USPSC) have blamed lead-based paints as a major source of lead poisoning that pose a major risk especially to children.
“While shade, colour and range are usually the determining factors for choosing the right paint, many consumers disregard important elements such as the ingredients that go into the making of the paints,” explained Mustafa Turra, regional marketing manager, Berger Paints.
Berger’s decorative paint range used in household and commercial applications does not contain any lead additives or any other heavy metals. Additionally, all its products come with the manufacturer’s lead-free guarantee, as indicated by a green logo on all paint cans. Turra also urged customers to insist on lead-free products while buying paints from an authorised dealer.
