DSI wins key MEP contracts

DRAKE & Scull Saudi, the MEP arm of Drake & Scull International (DSI) in the kingdom, has recently signed two deals worth a total of SR482 million ($128.5 million for projects in Saudi Arabia, bringing to the total value of its orders in Saudi Arabia last year to more than SR2.5 billion ($666.7 million).

It has been awarded a SR352 million ($93 million) contract to execute all associated mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works on a commercial development project in Riyadh, for completion towards the end of 2013.

The second deal worth SR130 million ($34.6 million) entails the MEP works for a hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The 400-bed new hospital is an 11-storey building that includes clinics, educational facilities, specialised and support sections, nursing units, diagnosis laboratories, operation theatres and a helipad site. The execution of the MEP package will commence immediately and the project is expected to be completed in 2016.

The company’s biggest contract for 2011 was the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre (Kapsarc) project in Riyadh.

Another DSI subsidiary, Drake and Scull Kuwait (DSK) has inked a Dh200 million ($54 million) contract to execute the MEP package for the College of Art as part of the Sabah Al Salem University development in Shadadiya, Kuwait.
The company intends to mobilise on site shortly, and expects to deliver the project in March 2015.
