WORK on the UAE’s first eco-friendly mosque will soon start in Dubai with the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (Amaf) of Dubai having joined hands with Al Arif Contracting for its construction in 18 months.
The firm will work closely with a specialist consultant to develop green building standards that will focus of the provision of green spaces, installation of thermal insulation, programmed and automatic thermostats, suction fans with energy recovery units, use natural light and have solar panels to generate heated water for ablution and the imam’s house.
