THE American Hardwood Export Council (Ahec), the leading international trade association for the American hardwood industry, supported the first ever ‘Design Mission Middle East 2013’, which was held last month (June 4 and 5) in Doha, Qatar.
The event brought together leading architects, interior designers, design professionals, hoteliers, real estate developers, project managing consultants, engineers, contractors and sustainability experts and gave them the opportunity to source quality products, network and keep abreast of the latest market trends, products and services.
Ahec’s participation was aimed at strategically highlighting the potential application and strong environmental credentials of American hardwoods amongst the designers and specifiers present at the event.
The inaugural Design Mission Middle East 2013 focused on functioning as a deal-flow platform and facilitating business based on the enormous architecture and design-driven market that exists in Qatar and across the GCC.
Roderick Wiles, Ahec director for Africa, Middle East, India and Oceania said: “Ahec’s support for Design Mission Middle East 2013 is in line with our objective to position US hardwoods as a favoured material for the growing number of interior projects across the region. Aside from a wide species variety, American hardwoods offer designers a great choice of colour, grain and character – from the warm, darker tones of walnut, red alder, elm, cherry and red oak to the lighter hues of white oak, maple and ash.”
The event was organised by IDE-Global.
