REYNAERS Middle East showcased its strength in the regional construction market in terms of the diversity of its range and the projects it has undertaken, at two key industry events – Project Qatar and Project Lebanon – which were held recently.
Participating for the first time at Project Qatar, the company attracted more than 500 visitors comprising fabricators, architects, building contractors and end-users to its stand at the event (May 6 to 9) in Doha, Qatar.
The show also provided Reynaers’ representatives with an opportunity to strengthen ties with the company’s existing customer base and explore new prospects.
“We showcased Reynaers’ strength in this market in terms of the projects undertaken so far since its launch in 2004. Our portfolio of projects has only grown with time and Reynaers is proud to have supplied the striking facades, functional doors and windows and efficient sliding systems that have been installed in various towers and buildings,” said Ali Khalaf, managing director of Reynaers Middle East, the regional office for the Belgian aluminium systems supplier.
Reynaers aims to grab a slice of the construction bonanza – estimated to be worth some $220 billion in the run-up to the 2022 Fifa Football World Cup – having already penetrated the Qatar market much earlier on with striking projects such as the Aspire Tower (Sports City Tower) in 2007.
Some of its products that are popular in that market are the curtain-walling series CW 50-SC and CW 60. For door and window applications, the CS 59-Pa and Eco System have been among the favourites while BS 40 is the preferred sun-screening system in the market. Reynaers promoted these products alongside the CS 77 series of doors and windows at the event.
“The CS 77-BP (bullet proof) and CS 77-FP (fireproof) are specially designed in keeping with the current safety and security requirements of several projects,” Khalaf pointed out.
Other products that were showcased include the Aluwood series (RW 100 and
RW 105), and the Glass Patio Series (GP 51).
Apart from the Sports City Tower, Reynaers’ recent projects in Qatar include the exhibition centre as well as the car-park at the prestigious Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), Al Meerah Mall in Mubrrek, Al Jasrah Twin Towers, several branches of the Qatar National Bank, the Engineering College at the University of Qatar and Zikreet office building.

One of its latest landmark projects in the country is the Qatar Foundation headquarters, for which it is designing and supplying bespoke aluminium systems for the façade and skylights to meet the unique requirements of the building, according to Khalaf.
Meanwhile, Reynaers Middle East returned to Project Lebanon 2013, which was held last month (June 4 to 7) in Beirut, Lebanon, following its success at last year’s event.
Reynaers’ participation at the premier international construction trade exhibition for Lebanon and the Middle East was part of plans to strengthen its presence throughout the region.
“Project Lebanon is like the Big 5 in Dubai for that specific region,” said Khalaf. “We were able to touch base with several prospect decision-makers who influence projects on a cross industry and cross boundary level.
“Although Lebanon is a new market for us and presents some challenges as regards political stability, Reynaers has made good progress in that market,” he commented.
Currently, Reynaers is devising a different business model in order to increase its market share in Lebanon, said Khalaf.
The main systems that generated interest among Lebanese customers at the event were its sliding systems, the luxury Aluwood and its façade systems.
Khalaf indicated that the most popular systems in the Lebanese market are those designed for large-sized sliding doors as well as folding doors, driven primarily by demand in the commercial and residential projects sector.
At Project Lebanon, Reynaers exhibited a range of its doors and window systems including the new ES 45Pa series which, the company said, are well-suited for the market. “The ES 45Pa will benefit fabricators, architects, investors and end-users,” said Khalaf. “For fabricators, the ES 45Pa rationalises articles, the frame profile, gaskets and corner cleats, and simplifies logistics. The system is designed to be less tolerance-sensitive, hence making fabrication economical.”
The ES 45Pa has been designed and developed in Europe and is supported by a 10-year company guarantee. It can be utilised for both windows and doors with an inward or outward opening based on the same frame and double casement profiles.
Some of the company’s recent projects in Lebanon include the Majestic Tower, Shalimar Villa, Talleh, Taraboulsi and Al Waha projects.
Reynaers is also contemplating a tie-up with a prominent business group that has a strong foothold in the Lebanese market, Khalaf said.
Reynaers Aluminium is one of Europe’s leading specialists in the development and marketing of innovative and sustainable architectural aluminium solutions for windows, doors, curtain-walling, sliding systems, sunscreening and conservatories.
The firm has acquired a strong market position in the 30 countries where it has its own sites. Exporting to more than 60 countries, the company attributes its success to its close partnership with more than 5,000 partner fabricators, architects and project developers worldwide.
