AHEC seeks project nominations

THE American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), the leading international trade association for the American hardwood industry, is inviting designers to nominate projects that incorporate American hardwoods from across the region for the Commercial Interior Design (CID) Awards, next month.

This follows AHEC’s announcement of its support for the seventh edition of the CID Awards, being held on September 16, 2013, at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. AHEC is sponsoring the awards for the third consecutive year where a category – outstanding use of American hardwoods in Mideast – has been created.

Given that total exports of American hardwood lumber and veneer to the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region reached a value of $86.54 million in 2012, marking an 18 per cent increase over the previous year, AHEC is confident that the number and standard of entries will be even higher this year.

AHEC’s involvement as a Gold Sponsor is part of its market development programme in the Middle East championing the usage of American hardwoods among the region’s leading architectural and design firms.
