Brett Martin, one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of high performance plastic sheets and rooflight systems, intends to take a stand on the importance of daylighting at The Big 5 show, where it will once again showcase its range of precision-engineered daylight systems.
As the Middle East’s largest construction exhibition, The Big 5 is a major networking platform for product suppliers and buyers from the construction industry, says an official.
“For the third year in a row, Brett Martin will be exhibiting at The Big 5 – the perfect place to showcase our growing range of glazing and rooflight solutions,” says Michael Colquhoun, director of export sales for the plastic sheets divisions of Brett Martin.
“It offers a huge opportunity to engage with clients both old and new, as we continue to develop on our impressive portfolio of high-profile daylight projects across the Middle East,” he says.
With a reputation for quality and reliability built over 50 years, Brett Martin’s ongoing investment in manufacturing technology, product innovation and service has ensured the company remains at the forefront of a challenging industry.
Colquhoun says rooflights are often the most suitable, and often the only way, to introduce natural daylight into buildings and help to transform their internal spaces.
“Any building that requires a light, bright, naturally day-lit interior will benefit from a glazing or rooflight system – be it a retail, commercial or leisure facility or a warehousing or industrial building,” he adds.
Offering complete design flexibility, the Marlon Polycarbonate range of high-performance plastics from Brett Martin can be used for a number of applications across the commercial, industrial, agricultural and horticultural sectors.
Available in multiwall, corrugated and flat sheet formats in clear, translucent tints and opaque colour options with specialist technology such as ultraviolet (UV) protection, condensation control and infrared (IR) heat block, Marlon Polycarbonate provides the assurance of performance in the most challenging of environments.
“Visiting architects, specifiers and contractors at The Big 5 will once again be able to see our complementary ranges of rooflight sheets and glazing systems,” says Colquhoun. “Our products have been used in projects across the region – including 10,000 sq m of our Marlon Clickfix1040 panel glazing system that was installed to create a stunning vertical façade at the Emirates airlines hangar at Dubai International Airport.”
Developed by Brett Martin’s in-house product development team, Marlon Clickfix1040 is a complete architectural polycarbonate panel glazing system that provides high-quality natural light, superior thermal insulation and UV protection. The system’s integral interlocking connections – cleverly concealed within the system – allow each panel to be simply clicked and fixed into place to create completely seamless glazed areas of unlimited runs.
“Made from high-performance polycarbonate, Clickfix 1040 delivers excellent thermal insulation and diffused light transmission, long-term weather resistance, high rigidity and impact strength. As well as exceptional performance, the system now offers the designer extra flexibility with four new vibrant colours – purple, blue, yellow and red – added to the growing product range in 2014,” says Colquhoun.
Brett Martin has continued to evolve its polycarbonate range with the new Marlon CS Diffuser Opal offering advanced solar control and enhanced UV resilience in hotter climates; and Marlon ST Blue, an innovative transparent multiwall polycarbonate sheet containing Cool Light Technology which cleverly blocks the heat transmitting near-infrared solar energy whilst allowing light through the sheet.
Reaffirming a commitment to innovation, quality and service, Brett Martin has also developed the Marlon CS Diamond and Marlon CST. “A super-tough, super-strong and super-resilient corrugated polycarbonate sheet, CS Diamond is naturally finished with an attractive diamond embossed pattern,” he elaborates.
For varying levels of light transmission, the Marlon CST corrugated multiwall polycarbonate sheet has been improved with additional tint option for varying levels of light transmission, including opal (38 per cent), pearlescent glass (53 per cent) and glass clear (77 per cent). As well as providing resistance against the effects of UV weathering. Marlon CST can be used with fibre cement sheeting or as a complete roof and wall cladding material.
With a team of product specialists and engineers dedicated to providing the highest standards of support and, alongside a range of products perfectly suited to the demands of the Middle East market, Brett Martin will once again demonstrate its ability to meet the most challenging glazing and rooflight applications at The Big 5 show.
Colquhoun says the Middle East is set to experience unparalleled construction activity over the next 20 years, with more than $1 trillion worth of major projects expected to be completed by 2030.
“For Brett Martin, the region offers excellent growth potential and a perfect opportunity for the company to utilise its design, engineering and technical expertise.”
Established in Northern Ireland in 1958, Brett Martin is now one of the UK’s most successful independent manufacturing companies, exporting to more than 70 countries worldwide. The family-owned business is the only European company to manufacture all the main plastic rooflight materials.
Brett Martin is a multi-site manufacturing company specialising in the manufacture of plumbing and drainage systems, plastic rooflighting and glazing materials, architectural rooflight systems and semi-finished substrates for the sign and display industry. The company’s UK manufacturing facilities are audited to stringent British quality standards BS EN 9001 and the BS EN 14000 environmental standard while many of its product accreditations, including BBA (British Board of Agreement), are well respected in the Middle East.
Brett Martin employs more than 800 people and has an annual turnover in excess of £112 million ($180 million).
Its Daylight Systems division provides daylight solutions to a wide spectrum of building types, supplying well over one million sq m of rooflights every year.
