Bahrain had awarded nine contracts worth a total of BD15 million ($39 million) early this year including key road and sanitary works besides inviting bids for seven major projects including the North Manama Causeway, said a senior official.
The Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry awarded four sanitary tenders, two contracts for the construction sector, one road tender and two other projects tenders, stated Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat, the assistant undersecretary for technical services.
The ministry had also invited bids for two projects in the sanitary engineering sector worth BD733,650 ($1.93 million), in addition to inviting bids for another five projects in the construction sector at a cost of BD180,000 ($473,859), stated the official.
Among the tenders invited in the construction sector was a project to provide consulting services for Phase Two of the North Manama Causeway project and the link causeway to Busaiteen and another to revamp of the second phase of Sheikh Hamad Highway (from roundabout 16 to Bahrain University).
