120 exhibitors head to Buildex 2014

MORE than 120 local and global exhibitors are expected to gather in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, for the construction and build exhibition (Buildex 2014) this month (February 16 to 20).

A number of countries, notably Germany, Italy, China, India, Turkey, Greece, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar, will participate in the five-day event that will showcase the growth of the construction market in the kingdom, which is predicted to hit $300 billion (SR1.12 trillion) in 2016, according to Dhahran International Exhibitions Company, the show’s organiser.

 

Bau goes to China

BAU, the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems, will make its debut in China in the middle of this year (July 8 and 9).

The first Bau Congress China to be co-located with an exhibition will take place at China National Convention Centre in Beijing, and will be organised by MMI Shanghai, Messe München’s subsidiary in China.

The congress, which will focus on sustainable urban development, integrated planning and implementation of projects, will feature internationally renowned speakers from China and Europe.

The exhibition will spotlight high quality building materials, components and construction solutions for the Chinese market.

The organisers are expecting around 50 companies to take part, mainly from Europe and China, prominent among them the Hörmann Group, which is the industrial partner of the congress.

 

Dubai realty makes the Next Move

A NEW consumer property show that will bring together leading property developers, agents and banks is to be held later this month (February 20 to 22) in Dubai, UAE.

Organised by Cityscape, Next Move will be held at Madinat Jumeirah and will offer visitors a showcase of thousands of local and international properties to choose from.

 

Qatar showcases green building

THE Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) displayed a key green building project at a recent forum in Dubai, UAE, which was held under the theme “Building a Green Future”.

QGBC’s Passivhaus Baytna project, showcased at the Emirates Green Building Council’s (EGBC) second annual congress held on December 11 and 12, paved the way for potential collaborations on projects and events with counterparts in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The QGBC delegation also engaged in a roundtable on the green building movement in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.

The Passivhaus study seeks to establish that an eco-friendly villa can be a viable building option.
