Experts to meet at green forum

01 February 2014

REGIONAL experts will tackle sustainability challenges at a summit to be held in Dubai, UAE, this month (February 11).

The Green Energy Conference, to be held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will run alongside Middle East Electricity, the region’s largest and longest running energy event (February 11 to 13) which will focus on power, lighting, renewable and nuclear sectors.

More than 300 public and private sector stakeholders are expected to engage in high-energy discussion and debate around some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the Middle East’s burgeoning clean energy sector.

“Key regional efforts to increase energy efficiency will be highlighted at the conference, but the most important aspect is to bring people together to generate dialogue about this important issue,” said Anita Mathews, director of Informa Energy Group, the organiser of Middle East Electricity.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, will highlight new initiatives to reduce energy consumption at the municipality by over 20 per cent in the next three years in collaboration with the Environmental Centre for Arab Towns (ECAT), while adopting innovative solutions to save up to 10.5 gigawatt hours (GWh) on energy consumption and 6,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.

Middle East Electricity is co-located with Solar Middle East.
