Aladdin City to take shape at Dubai Creek

01 March 2015

Dubai’s authorities have given the green light for a complex of towers inspired by characters from Arabian Nights, including Aladdin and Sinbad the Sailor.

Aladdin City, to take shape at the prime location of Dubai Creek in Al Regga, will comprise three towers with commercial and hotel space. The towers will be spread over a distance of 450 m on the creek.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, said: “The project is located within the traditional commercial vessels port at Dubai Creek, out of the old Dubai.”

The towers will be developed into icons of legends of the past with a touch of beauty; and will reflect the tourism attractions of the city, according to Lootah.

The project will be located outside the zone waiting to be registered as  UN World Heritage Site by Unesco, he said.

Aladdin City will have air-conditioned bridges with moving floors connecting the towers, driveways and parking lots. The shape of the bridges will represent the serpentine forms of life such as dragons and snakes.

The towers will offer views of Dubai Creek and the city’s old and modern horizons such as Burj Khalifa. They will have a built-up area of 110,000 sq m with the highest tower consisting of 34 storeys. The other two towers will have 26 and 25 floors. There will be parking spaces for 900 cars.
