Terex Trucks, which this month marks one year under the fold of Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), says it has boosted its resources in sales, marketing, and aftermarket to support its business in the region.
At the end of last year, the company appointed Rumaillah Motors in Qatar as its newest partner in the region in a drive to grow its business and brand awareness in the GCC market.
Guy Wilson, sales and marketing director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia, Terex Trucks, says the company is delighted to have Rumaillah Motors join its network. “As a business, they offer superior service in product delivery and support and with their long-serving reputation they also bring strong links into our target market.”
He adds Qatar brings great opportunity for Terex Trucks, especially with the substantial investment into infrastructure and construction in preparation for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
Terex Trucks currently has four dealers in the GCC region that include CMC in the UAE, Medco in Saudi Arabia, Rumaillah in Qatar, and Al Fairuz in Oman.
The company enjoys strong relationships in the region which have strengthened over time.
“We have hundreds of units in our field population in the region and look to continue to build on those successes. Our units are utilised in a variety of applications, but most commonly quarry and aggregates, mining, and general earthmoving,” says Wilson.
He says the company has a robust customer support system for its machines given the harsh conditions they face in the region.
“Customer support is the backbone of everything we do and is critical in our decision when appointing dealers in the region. We have a focused programme on service support and technical training from highly experienced Terex Trucks service engineers, who operate in field and in the plant. Genuine parts are supplied and readily available direct from the Terex Trucks parts store.
“We feel that with our product line-up we can really be the ‘specialist’ when it comes to supporting our customers and helping them to maximise profits,” Wilson adds.
The company showcased a range of machines at the recent Intermat construction equipment show in Paris, France, all of which are available for sale in the Gulf region. “However, dependent on emission regulations they may be a different variant,” he says.
He points out that Terex Trucks already offers a range of rigid and articulated dumptrucks to the regional market.
“Our articulated TA400 is ideal for small quarries and earthmoving contracts such as highway, railway or canal projects. And the rigid trucks, such as TR60 or TR70, are aimed towards quarries for the local supply to cement factories and the TR100 for large quarries or phosphate mining.”
“Given the surging construction activities, TR45 machines are perfect for managing the increased cement demand and associated activities and our articulated dumptrucks (ADT) are key for lighter applications,” Wilson says.
Terex Trucks was acquired last year by Volvo Construction Equipment, a company that shares similar competencies. Wilson says Terex Trucks is leveraging the Volvo group’s leadership in technology and processes to improve its performance.
“This ranges from product development to manufacturing and even to the sales process. As for sales, we are seeing the ability to leverage key account relationships and to gain access to customers from the relationship with Volvo. When it comes to the distribution network, we are looking for our best fit into the marketplace. If we have an open territory, we look towards the Volvo dealers in addition to other suitable dealers.”
Wilson says the company has already begun aggressive investments into research and development (R&D) and it will bring the details to market in the near future.
