HLG to develop Kizad infrastructure

01 August 2015

The Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG), one of the leading diversified international contractors in the region, has been awarded a Dh263-million ($72 million) contract by Abu Dhabi Ports for the development of infrastructure at its flagship project, Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), in Abu Dhabi.

The contract will cover the creation of infrastructure for a 52-sq-km site, including road, water and sewage networks, electricity supply and a telecommunications network.

It will also involve extensive dewatering, excavation and pipe-laying work, and the installation of substations.

The company has previously completed infrastructure works for Abu Dhabi Ports under a Dh1.04-billion ($283 million) contract that was awarded in 2010.

The infrastructure work will start this month and is due for completion by March 2017, said a report in The National.

HLG, which is a joint venture between Dubai’s Al Habtoor Group and Australia’s Leighton Holdings now known as Cimic, said it has been involved in the construction of different phases of Khalifa Port and Kizad in the emirate.
