A new model city comprising residential, economic and tourism complexes is under review by the Eastern Province municipality in Saudi Arabia, said a report.
The new city, which will be located at Half Moon Bay in Al-Aziziyah district, will be developed in line with Islamic traditions and as per international standards while providing a unique urban and eco-friendly environment, said a report in Arab News.
It will feature 88,000 housing units, commercial areas, offices, a techno-park, facilities for 650 boats, a conferences and exhibition centre and a maritime museum, besides various modes of public transport, it said.
Scheduled to be completed over 30 years, the project will be implemented in six stages and will include a technology valley, an environment-friendly family oasis and will be linked with Dammam and will enhance its regional position, the report said. The project is expected to support domestic tourism through resorts, hotels, tourist villages and entertainment services.
