The W Hotel – The Palm in Dubai is all set to open its doors this month (January), featuring W’s signature design elements to create a luxurious destination for ‘out of town’ guests as well as for the sophisticated local business and social community.

Work on the world-class resort hotel, located on the west crescent of Palm Jumeirah, commenced in 2015. It is being developed by Al Sharq Investment led by its chief operating officer, Jean Paul Zoghbi.

Linesight has been engaged as the cost management consultant during both the pre- and post-contract stages, while the project management company was Mace International, and Holford Associates was the engineering firm.

“The project was tendered under a two-stage tendering method and delivered under a construction management procurement strategy. Several provisional sums were included in the contract which were tendered after the main contractor site mobilisation,” Ciaran McCormack, regional director for Linesight Middle East tells ABDULAZIZ KHATTAK of Gulf Construction magazine.

He says the project has been designed to exceed five-star hotel standards. “In all aspects of the design, specification and construction, the W Hotel will set the benchmark against which other resort hotels in Dubai will be compared,” McCormack adds.

The hotel will offer unprecedented views of the Arabian Gulf and back towards the Dubai skyline.

McCormack says the undulating building form takes full advantage of the views in this unique location by opening up vistas to the waterfront and creating intimate court spaces along the water edge.

The W Hotel will have an approximate gross floor area of 58,000 sq m and will house 350 sea-facing guest rooms and suites.

There will be a clubhouse, several swimming pools, beach access, beautiful landscaped gardens, concierge services, a state-of-the-art security system, and associated back-of-house areas.

Restaurants, retail outlets and function facilities are mostly located on the ground floor of the hotel wing, with a destination bar and restaurant at high level to take full advantage of the dual aspect views. The hotel will feature six gourmet food and beverage (F&B) outlets, including three specialty restaurants, a poolside restaurant and bar, shisha lounge, and lobby lounge.

It will also feature the first Away Spa in the Middle East holding 11 treatment rooms, steam room, sauna and hammam.

Linesight, a leading international construction consultancy, which first opened its regional office in Dubai in 2008, offers consultancy services, focusing on cost and project management, across a wide number of industry sectors including retail, commercial, hospitality and data centres.

The company is currently working on developments worth in excess of $10 billion and is experiencing an average annual revenue growth of 6.6 per cent.

Some of its more notable projects in Saudi Arabia include the $4-billion Thakher City mixed-use development in Makkah, the MAF City Centre Ishbiliyah retail development in Riyadh, and the $293-million Al Faisaliah District redevelopment project also in Riyadh, which involves the upgrade of Al Khozama’s retail, hospitality and commercial assets starting with the refurbishment of the Al Faisaliah Mall.

Elsewhere in the Gulf, it is involved in the $430-million Bahrain Marina mixed-use development and the Al Sahel Hotel Development in Bahrain.
