Dubai-based mining, crushing and logistics operator Minerals Technocom Contractor has recently installed and commissioned a Terex MPS 1200TPH plant in Ras Al Khaimah to support the production of steel-grade limestone for JSW Cement, a wholly-owned subsidiary of India-based JSW Cement.
The produced limestone will be used as a by-product in JSW Cement’s UAE plant and also as a raw material for its steel plant in India. It will also cater to local requirements.
Minerals Technocom turned to Terex, impressed by the professional approach and expertise provided by the Terex team, to deliver a solution that would produce six million tonnes per annum, said a spokesman for Terex Materials Processing Systems (MPS).
After considering the options, it decided on a Terex 1200TPH plant consisting of a primary jaw crusher – the Cedarapids JC5460 (the biggest jaw crusher offered by Terex); a secondary cone crusher – Cedarapids MVP 550 X; a tertiary vertical shaft impactor – Canica 2000, with multiple screens in the process including the MTS 6204, Cedarapids TSV8203, a dual mechanism screen from the US and torrent offerings from Malaysia.
The impressive set-up spans about 420,000 sq m and produces 20,000 tonnes per day ranging from 0-5 mm, 5-10 mm, 10-20 mm, 20-40 mm, and 40-80 mm. With the support and supervision of the Terex MPS team members, the plant was commissioned ahead of schedule.
Sundar Rajan, Terex sales director – Middle East & East Africa, commented: “We offered this plant to Minerals Technocom because of its relatively simple offering – with limited units delivering the best output and minimum fines generation. We were delighted to support the customer from the early planning stages right through to the supervision, erection and commissioning of this large-scale plant.”
JSW Cement’s head of operations stated: “Having a solution that satisfies our strict requirements in terms of consumption and productivity was of utmost importance to us and we are delighted that the Terex 1200TPH is producing the output as committed.”
