Mott MacDonald wins terminal job
Mott MacDonald, a renowned global engineering, management and development consultancy, has been awarded a major contract by UAE-based AquaChemie Middle East for its new chemical terminal at Jebel Ali, Dubai.
As per the deal, Mott MacDonald will be providing design, engineering and project management services for the strategic facility, which is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2021.
A leading regional chemical distributor with an extensive supply chain network and manufacturing base across the GCC region, AquaChemie Middle East said the one-of-its-kind chemical terminal will be built at a cost of Dh150 million ($40 million). It will serve as a strategic gateway to enable and facilitate vital petrochemical trade across the GCC region and beyond, said the UAE company.
UAE to launch $2.72bn projects
The UAE plans to launch 36 infrastructure development projects worth more than Dh10 billion ($2.72 billion) covering key sectors including security, education, health and services, as well as federal road and maintenance projects.
The projects by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development come under the framework of its investment programme for 2017 to 2021 period.
“The budget for these projects is divided between implementing and maintaining government buildings at a cost of Dh6.62 billion, constructing and maintaining federal roads at a cost of Dh3.38 billion, along with four road implementation projects costing around Dh780 million,” stated Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the Minister of Infrastructure Development.
Dr Al Nuaimi said the plant also covers the launch of six new health centres and hospitals at an investment of Dh350 million and security building projects costing Dh525 million, development of four new schools at an investment of Dh600 million, and five government buildings costing Dh152 million.
1,500 bus shelters to be developed
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has invited private companies in the UAE and abroad to submit proposals for constructing about 1,500 bus shelters for the convenience of passengers in several districts of the emirate.
The project aims to develop about 1,500 bus shelters at new districts, over two to three years. The prospective developer will cater to the operation and maintenance of these shelters for 10 years, renewable to a similar period.
