Bahrain set to build over 1,700 residential units

01 April 2020

Bahrain has announced plans to build a total of 1,705 residential units, including 1,402 apartments, within the Salman City social housing project, reported the BNA.

This comes as part of the ministry’s plans to implement His Majesty King Hamad’s order for the construction of 40,000 housing units in the kingdom under the Government Action Plan, stated the report citing the housing minister.

“With work on the tenders already completed, preparations are under way to start the construction work,” said Engineer Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar, during an inspection visit to Salman City.

Al Hamar pointed out that the ministry is currently reviewing the implementation procedures for the general plans that have been approved for the new cities.

“New Bahrain Cities projects are being given great importance by the government, both in terms of building the units and providing public services and infrastructure,” he added.

Meanwhile, the housing ministry has begun the handover of residential units in the first phase of the Al-Ramli District housing project, said a report.

The move comes following the directive from HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to distribute 5,000 housing units, in line with the royal directives, reported the BNA, citing the Housing Minister.

The minister pointed out that the distribution of Al Ramli units comes days after the hand over of the Salman, Khalifa and East Hidd towns and the beneficiaries moving to live there.

The ministry’s initiatives implemented in partnership with the private sector have been endorsed by the government and contribute to honouring the pledge to provide 25,000 units, he added.
