01 April 2020

The Middle East Energy 2020, the 45th edition of the global energy platform, drew to a close last month at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), setting the future of energy in motion with industry heavyweights unveiling next-generation engines that will help meet growing global energy demand.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler,  the 46th edition will be back next year from March 22 to 24, said the organiser.

Among the more than 1,100 energy sector players from over 130 countries displaying the latest solutions, manufacturers proudly flexed their engine muscle at the three-day event hosted by the UAE Ministry of Energy.

Some of the game-changing efficient engines that caught the eye at Middle East Energy were Volvo Penta’s  D8 Stage II and Stage IIIA/Tier 3 power generation engine;  Perkins’ 2806A-E18TTAG series turbocharged and air-to-air charge cooled, six-cylinder diesel engine with 18 litres capacity; the YMZ 5368-20 eco-friendly diesel engine from GAZ, Russia’s top producer of commercial vehicles; Kohler-SDMO’s KD 3500, an engine with high power density;  and Chinese powerhouse Kangwo Power’s K16T diesel engine.

After four-and-a-half decades as Middle East Electricity (MEE),  the event organised by Informa Markets has since this year been the rebranded as Middle East Energy. The region’s leading trade event for the power industry featured dedicated product sectors for power generation, transmission and distribution, energy consumption and management, renewables and digitalisation.
