Damac completes Aykon City Tower B structure

01 December 2020

Damac Properties, a leading luxury project developer in Dubai, says it has achieved a key milestone on its Aykon City Project on the banks of the Dubai Canal on Sheikh Zayed Road, with the structure of Tower B fully completed.

Around 90,000 cu m of concrete went into the structure. Additionally, around 11,000 tonnes of steel were used, which is roughly half the weight of the Statue of Liberty, says Damac.

Once completed, the 53-storey tower will stand at 246-m high and house 1,218 units. The vast majority of the units will be studios and one-bedroom apartments. However, there will be 138 two-bedroom and 45 three-bedroom apartments, as well.

With its prime location on Sheikh Zayed Road, Aykon City offers spectacular views of the city skyline as well as the Dubai Canal.

Damac says this achievement comes close on the heels of the awarding of a main works contract last month, worth Dh181 million ($49.2 million), to begin construction of Zada tower, another Damac project in nearby Business Bay.

The Dubai developer views these milestones as positive progress, especially amid the challenges facing the real estate industry due to the effects of Covid-19 on the market and tourism industry.

“We are happy with the completion of the structure of Tower B in Aykon City and look forward to expediting the completion of our remaining inventory despite the challenges we may face,” remarks Niall McLoughlin, Senior Vice President of Damac.

“Our progress is a reflection of our strong organisation, full of hard working and dedicated employees and a forward-thinking team of managers,” he adds.

Meanwhile, Damac Properties recently inaugurated its ambitious Malibu Bay beach pool within the Damac Hills residential community in Dubai.

A man-made beach, Malibu Bay is nestled inside the community’s 4 million sq ft park and offers residents all the perks of going to the beach, just at their doorstep.

The Emirati developer says Damac Hills was the only residential community in the UAE to have such a wave pool. At 24,700 sq ft, it is about one-and-a-half times as big as a professional hockey rink. The waves are created by a giant Belgium-imported wave ball, which plunges up and down in a gated area in the centre of the pool.

Spanning across a 72,000 sq ft area, Malibu Bay is fully equipped with amenities for all ages such food and beverage options, as well as recreational amenities such as table tennis and splash park for kids to enjoy. Residents will be able to access the beach pool for free.

The Park in Damac Hills also boasts a skate park, a horse stable, an ice rink, a petting zoo, a dog park, as well as several lakes where residents can actually fish.  It features an events area where the community management team of Damac Hills regularly organises family-oriented events such as a food and handicrafts market, movie screenings and other fun activities.

Apart from the park, the community offers high quality, multi-purpose sporting facilities, including a football field, badminton court, cricket ground, basketball courts, tennis courts and an MHS Tennis Academy.
