Turkish ceramics exports enjoy growth

01 February 2021

Turkishceramics, an umbrella group for ceramic manufacturers and exporters in Turkey, is upbeat about prospects for the country’s ceramics sector in 2021, given that it registered a 6.6 per cent increase in exports last year despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Turkey ranks among the top five ceramic tile and sanitary ware exporters in the world, says a spokesman for Turkishceramics.

Turkey exported ceramic products worth $1.3 billion in 2020, with $777 million earned through its export of tiles and $267 million from sanitary ware, with its main export destinations having been Germany, US, UK, Israel and France.

“In spite of the Covid-19 pandemic and its pressure on economies, compared to the previous year, Turkey’s ceramic products export increased 6.6 per cent in 2020,” remarks the spokesman, adding that he is confident of further growth in the country’s exports this year.

The spokesman attributes the country’s continued success to the wide experience of the Turkish ceramic sector that extends over thousands of years.

“Being one of the biggest ceramic producers and exporters in the world, Turkey has increased its market share every year by combining its multicultural and multifaceted historical wealth with modern designs and technology,” he stresses.

Turkishceramics represents over 35 individual companies, with the group’s mission being to raise awareness of the “Turkishceramics” brand internationally and promote the quality and design of Turkish ceramic tiles and sanitary ware products under a single brand.
