Duravit boosts range with new technology

01 February 2021

Duravit, a leading international manufacturer of designer bathrooms, has expanded its Happy D.2 Plus series in partnership with sieger design by incorporating its new patent-pending c-shaped technology.

This technology ensures that the ceramic washbasin and furniture are flush with each other, leaving no overhang or recess and a precise gap of 4 mm. Made entirely of DuraCeram – an innovative ceramic material which is thinner and notable for its extreme accuracy, high strength and elegant finish – and specially finished, c-shaped has all the benefits of a ceramic glaze, such as ease of cleaning and robustness, whilst at the same time offering new scope for bathroom design, says a spokesman for the Germany-based company.

Happy D.2 Plus offers two new versions for the design of the washing area with a lighter or darker mood to match the elegant and expressive collections. These include c-shaped, which is available with a ceramic, glossy white outer edge in combination with a vanity unit or metal console in chrome; and c-bonded, which now comes with a new, rounded outer edge in the same colour as the vanity unit or to match the metal console in Black Matt.

The lateral profiles of the mirrors and the cabinets with fully-mirrored sides reflect the individual design language of XViu.

In each case, they are based on basins with a narrow, typically flat edge and harmoniously integrated tap platform. The basins are available in three widths (575, 775 and 975 mm). A white acrylic cover conceals the fittings beneath the basin, guaranteeing perfect aesthetics from any angle, the spokesman says.

The floor-standing, height-adjustable metal consoles with integrated towel rail can be delivered with an optional shelf or built-in drawer.

A further option is a seat (width 625 mm) featuring an integrated drawer that can be added as a practical extension of the console on the left or right. Duravit also offers a cushion in matching greige made from a woven fabric suitable for wet rooms.

Wall-mounted vanity units with two drawers provide additional storage space. These are available in a total of 11 carcass surfaces, with a choice between luxury wood or matt surfaces in light or dark. The Graphite Super Matt variant also comes with an anti-fingerprint coating. A high-class interior furnishing system in Maple or Walnut can be selected as an option.

The new washing area variants can be ideally combined with all elements from the Happy D.2 and Happy D.2 Plus design series, ensuring a consistent design for the all bathroom furnishings. Happy D.2 Plus offers a consistent colour concept with toilets and bidets in Anthracite as well as bathtubs with seamless panelling in Graphite Supermatt – harmonising perfectly with the black metal console and dark furniture surfaces, the spokesman adds.

Meanwhile, Duravit and sieger design now offer a complete bathroom range that exudes forward-looking design with the Viu ceramics range, the XViu furniture range, and the matching bathtubs. “The post-industrial elegance of the pieces emerges from the interaction of soft, organic forms with a precise geometry and details finished to a previously unattained level of perfection. Sharp contrasts arise from surfaces that combine the finest ceramics, glass and metal with matt lacquers or high-quality woods,” says the spokesman.

The new range covers the entire bathroom: the washing, bathing and toilet area. Recurrent design elements and special details are defining elements of the harmonious interior design.

The highlight is a washing area variant based on the patented Duravit c-bonded technology. With the new width dimensions, washing areas from 450 to 1,200 mm can now be realised.

“This creates even more flexibility in bathroom planning. The exterior is a strict rectangle, while the interior features gentle organic curves with a spacious inner basin and generous shelf. The edge running along the tap platform continues as a subtle outer line. The subtle detail of the horizontal overflow within the basin underlines the horizontal alignment of the external shape. The ceramic on the inside is reminiscent of the softness of water,” he explains.

The prominent contour of the supporting metal console with its V-shape profile in elegant Champagne Matt or avant garde Black Matt creates dynamic interest. Individual combinations can be realised thanks to the glass shelf which is available in four colours.

The acrylic panelling on the underside of the basin conceals the fixing structure, cables, and connecting hoses, with the result that the elaborate technology, for example for the D.1e electronic faucet, does not impact the design.

Fully glazed from beneath, the Viu washbasins, available in five sizes as well as a handrinse basin, are also ideally suited as individual solutions. Their shape follows the design of the c-bonded washbasin. Door variants in semi-transparent smoked glass can be supplied for tall and semi-tall cabinets.

The lateral profiles of the mirrors and the mirror cabinets with fully-mirrored sides reflect the individual design language of XViu. Models fitted with a sensor switch offer maximum comfort with dimmable lighting. The variant with icon control on the mirror surface, a first for mirror cabinets, also features the ambient light mode and coloured light switching function: at a luminosity of more than 300 lux, the light colour can be continuously adjusted from 2,700 (warm light) to 6,500 kelvin (cold light).

A further highlight of the XViu series is the free-standing bathtub, an eye-catching centerpiece. Here, too, the prominent metal frame with the familiar V-shaped profile comes in Champagne Matt or Black Matt as a contrast to the high-gloss white acrylic. It supports the free-standing bathtub, itself a precise rectangle when viewed from above, with an ergonomic and organic free form interior.

In addition, Duravit Rimless technology ensures outstanding flushing performance while SensoWash Slim is available as an option for the toilet. The combination with the Duravit A2 electronic actuator plate and matching wall-mounted element provides operating comfort of the highest standard, the spokesman says.
