Architexture Collection tables the aesthetics of marble

01 October 2021

The new Architexture Collection, designed by Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola for haute couture marble atelier Budri, is inspired by Italy’s architectural tradition, albeit in a contemporary form.

The minimal and linear shapes lend a voice to marble, says its Italian manufacturer, which showcased the collection at its showroom in Foro Buonaparte during Milan Design Week last month (September 4 to 10).

Architexture includes nine tables of different heights and sizes: two circular and one rectangular dining tables, three circular coffee tables and three circular side tables. The Leitmotiv of the entire collection are the bases of the tables, represented by self-standing columns in marble, composed of coloured rings that alternate with each other. The pictorial and veined marbles contrast with monochromatic marbles with a colour-block effect, recalling the most iconic facades of the Italian Renaissance. The graphics of the base are dominated by the lightness and transparency of the extra clear glass top, which lets the stone emerge in all its beauty.

Budri holds credit for producing 20,000 sq m of inlays for Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
