Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) reaffirmed at the recent Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai that its premier dining destination Bujairi Terrace will open later this year.
Located just minutes from the centre of the Saudi capital city of Riyadh and with uninterrupted views of the Unesco World Heritage Site At-Turaif, Bujairi Terrace is well positioned to be the region’s new dining hot-spot. The 15,000-sq-m dining destination will feature 21 brands ranging from international fine dining to authentic Saudi cuisine and a range of seasonal pop-ups, including four Michelin-starred restaurants Bruno, Tatel, Hakkasan and Long Chim.
Guests will dine in restaurants designed in traditional Najdi-style architecture, surrounded by the natural beauty of Wadi Hanifah and breathtaking views of At-Turaif, which stands at the centre of Diriyah, a magnificent collection of beautifully preserved mud-brick palaces which was the first capital of Saudi Arabia.
At ATM, DGDA also announced that it is transforming Wadi Hanifah, one of Saudi Arabia’s most iconic oases, into a nature-based escape from Riyadh’s bustling city centre. The restoration of the wade forms a key part of DGDA’s $50.6 billion masterplan that will transform Diriyah into one of the world’s most exciting cultural tourist destinations.
Plans for Wadi Hanifah involve the restoration of 2 sq km of unique palm groves containing hundreds of thousands of trees from species native to the wadi, as well as creating new parks with walking trails, biking tracks, outdoor games areas and picnic spots.
Wellness spaces, activity and eco-tourism attractions will be at the heart of the wadi’s enhancements, which aim to improve the quality of life for local residents and visitors.
The wadi is situated near the Unesco World Heritage site At-Turaif and has easy access to the escarpment walkway which provides unparalleled views of the earthen structures of Najdi architecture.
The masterplan will comprise four interactive zones: Heritage and Culture Zone; Wadi Living Zone; Eco-Tourism Zone and Sports and Activity Zone.
