OVER more than two decades of operation in the UAE, Al Moosa Contracting has developed into one of the largest building and civil engineering construction companies in the region.
The company, part of the well-diversified Salim Al Moosa group, has proved its diverse capabilities in a range of projects as well as its ability to successfully carry out fast-track work, says group vice president Imad Abdul Fattah. Competing and collaborating with international companies, the firm has worked its way to the top, undertaking and delivering all types of building and civil engineering construction - from multi-storey buildings to villas and palaces, from defence complexes and water reservoirs to electrical substations, says Fattah.
Among its more unusual projects was the recently-completed restoration work on the on the Dubai Museum and Exhibition Centre and the Al Fahidi Fort, where it carried out underpinning work using ring beams to transfer loads to special piles. Special grouting techniques were also used.
Other major projects in which it was involved recently include the grandstand for the international race course, staff accommodation at Jebel Ali Free Zone, the Higher College of Technology, phases one, two, three and five of the Jebel Ali Free Zone, and warehousing for Honda and Panasonic. It has also been involved on a number of projects for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) as well as sewage and distribution networks.
Al Moosa has just secured a contract with Dewa for dredging work and installation of pipelines at Jebel Ali Port, adds Fattah.
