UNDER a $10.14 million contract Burhan is working on Phase I of the Police Officers Club in Abu Al Hasaniya.
The client is the Ministry of Interior Affairs while the design consultant is OHA. The project is to be carried out in two phases. Burhan started work on Phase I in September last year and expects to complete it next March.
The complex occupies an area of 40,127 sq m and has a 400 m seafront. Phase I work includes the basement, ground and first floors, swimming pool, a guardhouse and an electrical room.
The basement comprises the central kitchen and its related services. The ground floor houses the social services facilities such as halls, outdoor seating areas, cafeteria and preparatory kitchen and public services as well as administrative offices. The first floor has multipurpose halls including the main restaurant, ballrooms, conference rooms, cinema, billiard and computer games rooms, a cafeteria and public services.
Services necessary to the building such as tanks and machinery for air-conditioning and lifts are located on the rooftop.
The site will also include a semi-Olympic-sized pool and a swimming pool for children. Work also includes construction of roads, car and boat trailer parking as well as the entry gate, underground tanks, electrical services and utility room.
Phase II will cover luxurious beachfront chalets for officers and guests, and will have a contract duration of 18 months. It will also include shore development and maritime works such as breakwaters and seabed cleaning, outdoor tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts, a mosque and an outdoor play area for children, gardens, irrigation and landscaping works.
