Public office goes up

Early this year Burhan started work on the main office building for the Public Institution for Social Security in West Mishref. The $10.7 million contract is due for completion in January 2003.
The project, originally designed to have two floors, has now been expanded to include a third floor.
"Structurally, little change was made as the design incorporated the possibility to add another floor," says Chris Preece, general manager. "Currently, there is an underground level for parking; however, the client is currently proposing to add a multi-storey car-park to the rear of the building. How this will impact on the construction schedule has not been finalised but construction continues and any future changes will be incorporated in due course."
