Sharjah manufacturer on the expansion path

01 December 2001

Electronic & Engineering Industries Company (EEI) has recently acquired a new generation of expandable polystrene block moulding machinery from Germany as part of an expansion of its factory in the UAE.

"The state-of-the-art fully computerised machinery ensures good quality, precise density and sizes and has a large production capacity of 1,000 cu m per day," says M J Joseph, the manager of the Sharjah-based company.

EEI, which manufactures a wide range of insulation products, is currently in the process of expanding its factory, says Joseph. "We are also acquiring new machinery for the injection moulding process," he says.

Certified to ISO 9002, EEI's policy is aimed towards customer satisfaction and the company attributes its success to the quality of its products, better pricing and prompt delivery time.

Established in 1979, EEI was the first company in the UAE manufacture injection-moulded polystyrene insulation products, of which its most popular product is the Roofmaster, according to Joseph.

"There are two vital areas where Roofmaster, manufactured with German expertise, scores over extruded-moulded polystyrene," he explains. "Firstly, it stays stable and retains its shape and dimensions at temperatures as high as 60 deg C. Secondly, its edges are moulded and not cut as in extruded polystyrene. Thus, the precise sizes make it easy to install."

The company has expanded its Roofmaster range with the introduction of green coloured Roofmaster-s DG 38-44.

"The panels, with improved thermal specifications, are available in densities ranging from 38 to 44 kg/cu m and feature excellent thermal insulation properties, high compressive strength and low moisture uptake," he says. "They are recommended for any application requiring efficient thermal insulation, good resistance to moisture and high mechanical strength. By virtue of its high compressive strength and low water absorption, DG 38-44 is ideal for the thermal insulation of inverted membrane roofs."

All EEI's products meet BSI, ASTM and DIN specifications and are free of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), he says. Strict quality control is maintained at its factory and products are regularly tested at independent laboratories.

EEI manufactures polystyrene hourdi blocks for high-rise buildings, polystyrene inserts for lightweight Thermablocks, Styropack star- and chip-shaped expanded polystyrene (EPS) for loose-fill packaging, pipe insulation, void formers, cavity insulation, packaging, vegetable and fish boxes, ice-cream boxes, computer packaging, cooler boxes, granite tile packaging, polystyrene bonded with gypsum, display items and polystyrene in various shapes.
