Terex unfettered when it comes to a crunch

01 June 2005

Terex Pegson has launched its latest product developments in the crushing segment – the innovative Premiertrak 1165 HR mobile crushing plant – at the recently-concluded Samoter 2005.

The track-mounted crushing plant – suitable for processing hard rock, stone and secondary aggregate recycling applications – features Terex Pegson’s newly-developed, high-production, hydraulically-adjustable M Series single toggle jaw with hydraulic release (HR), says a company spokesman.
The new HR system is designed to alleviate problems associated with “instant stall” encountered when tramp metals enter the crushing process – particularly in the recycling and reclamation of construction and demolition waste.
When an uncrushable object enters the jaw causing instant stall, the forces exerted on the whole mechanism – including the frame, shaft and bearings – can be extremely detrimental, both in terms of long-term damage and the inevitable downtime that is lost in alleviating the blockage, he says.
“The HR system minimises wear and damage caused by tramp overload conditions on the jawstock, mainframe, toggle plate, bearings and shaft. Being fully adjustable, quick and easy to reset, the system makes blockage clearance a simple process, saving both time and money and allows the crusher to continue its processing with minimal disruption to the task,” he explains. “The system (patent pending) is designed to alleviate the problem of insufficient crushing action and poor seal life associated with other such systems and also allows for both rapid blockage clearance and setting changes.”
With a strong “I” beam construction chassis and efficient twin-step grizzly – all driven by a Caterpillar engine – the Premiertrak 1165 HR is equipped with an HFO clutch system, maximising efficiency and reducing the potential for operator clutch abuse. The 1165 HR can handle capacities of up to, 300 tonnes per hour depending on finished product size, he concludes.
