The logistical operations of the company are handled by the Logistics Division, which enfolds clearing and forwarding, freight forwarding and deliveries/distribution (UAE) departments that operate independently to ensure a streamlined service.
“Presently, the division caters to four divisions within the Mohamed Hareb Al Otaiba group. All freight operations as well as warehousing and distributions for all MHAO divisions as well as Xerox (another group company) are handled by the division,” says Partap Singh, manager of the division.
The division has gained a wealth of experience of the local market and has a state-of-the-art custom-built warehouse sprawling over an area of 50,000 sq ft in Al Quoz.
Partitioned to form six separate warehouses and a quarter for administrative work, the facility has its own fleet of delivery trucks and is manned with an adequate labour force and a batch of drivers to ensure smooth operations.
“A 12,000 sq ft area has been fully optimised by introducing a professional shelving system which accommodates 1,796 pallet slots fully supported by a state-of-the-art moving effort with a lift height of 6 m, including a small temperature-controlled storage areas housing specialty materials for office equipment, which must be stored in a conditioned environment,” Singh points out.
Besides performing a support role for the rest of the Al Otaiba companies and divisions, the division also has its own operations and is a profitable entity. The group has invested a considerable sum to make the division extremely functional and has acquired cutting-edge ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software to manage the inventory system, he concludes.
