Al Dhafra introduces innovative pipe range

01 December 2006

Abu Dhabi-based Al Dhafra Pipes has recently established a custom-built factory to manufacture and distribute steel reinforced plastic (polyethylene) pipes to customers throughout the Middle East.

The combination of these two proven materials in one pipe creates a never-before-seen product in the region and promises to revolutionise the critical sewage, drainage and irrigation industries, says a company spokesman.
“Steel reinforced plastic pipes offer the perfect solution for the challenges associated with irrigation and drainage across the region. The unique combination of steel reinforcing with plastic makes the pipes stronger and more durable against the effects of corrosion, chemicals, harsh fluids and soils,” says Jason Thomas, general manager of Al Dhafra Pipes.
“Additionally clients save money in the long run on infrastructure costs because the pipe’s unique strength and durability ensures a longer lifespan,” he adds.
The steel-reinforced plastic pipes can be produced as perforated pipe for subsoil drainage applications and used to collect and transfer surface water through ground seepage into the pipeline that eliminates the need for open drainage channels and reduces water tables.
In addition, the new range of pipes is more durable than conventional pipes available in the region and is ideally suited to combat aggressive soils and saline groundwater conditions, which characterise the Middle East. The pipes have been independently tested according to international and local standards and are the lightest pipe available in the market. They also eliminate the need for heavy installation machinery and additional labour, offering clients further cost savings. These pipes can be used for the gravity flow transmission of irrigation and storm drainage water and the collection and transfer of sewage from households and buildings to treatment plants or sewage overflow systems.
