Construction of Saraya Bandar Jissah, a $600-million mega tourism project in Oman, is on track with rapid progress being made on site, the developer has revealed.






Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) plans to double its production capacity of high-quality treated water from 183 million cu m to 366 million cu m over the next five years. The news was revealed by Ashghal president Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi during a wastewater seminar in Doha, the Gulf Times reported.






Parsons has won a traffic consultancy services contract for the improvement of the Bahrain Gas Interchange in Bahrain. One of the major traffic bottlenecks in the kingdom, the interchange is located between the Salmabad Interchange and Isa Town Gate Interchange, along the Sheikh Salman Highway.






Omani developer Badr Group has awarded a contract to Unique Contracting Company to build an integrated tourism complex (ITC) in the capital Muscat. The turnkey contract award comes following the completion of the extensive substructure works at The Links at Muscat Hills,  reported the Oman Observer.






The Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body and operator of the kingdom’s airport, has signed up Al Yusuf Décor to design its new headquarters in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of work includes supervision of the entire project including construction work, fit-outs and interior design.






Qatar Kentz, a unit of Canadian construction group SNC Lavlin, has won a $125-million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Qatargas to build a water recycling facility at Ras Laffan Industrial City, located 80 km north of Doha. Besides the EPC contract, Qatar Kentz will also help in commissioning the facility.






Seven pre-qualified applicants have been invited to submit tenders for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for the Duqm Refinery in Oman. The Duqm Refinery is a key project being constructed in a 900 hectare-area with an investment of more than $6.5 billion. The capacity of the facility will be 230,000 barrels per day.






Foster + Partners, a leading UK-based architectural firm, said it has secured a major contract to design the masterplan for the Maspero Triangle District, a mixed-use project featuring residential, commercial and retail developments in downtown Cairo, Egypt.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the end of October for a new British naval base in Bahrain that is expected to open next year.
