Excavation work has commenced on the newly-launched Zawaya, a new mixed-use development in Motor City, Dubai, being developed by  Union Properties, one of the largest real estate developers in the UAE. China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has been signed up for the excavation work.






Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power and China’s Shanghai Electric have signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the 700-MW fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) investment project in the world based on the independent power producer (IPP) model.






Aldar last month launched a Dh10-billion ($2.72 billion) masterplan that will incorporate and greatly enhance Alghadeer, one of its already established destinations located near the border of Abu Dhabi and Dubai within its Seih Al Sdeirah landbank.






Aldar Properties has appointed the UAE-based Trojan General Contracting as the main contractor for Water’s Edge, its latest waterfront development on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The Dh1.






Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two contracts worth a total of Dh1.3 billion ($354 million) for the third and fourth phases of roads leading to Expo 2020 project. The project is aimed at ensuring a smooth flow of traffic to serve exhibition visitors as well as future projects in the area, said the RTA.






Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT) has signed an agreement with Aldar Properties to start construction of a Hyperloop system as well as HyperloopTT’s XO Square Innovation Center, and a Hyperloop Visitor Centre at the Seih Al Sdeirah landbank in Abu Dhabi near the Alghadeer residential development.






Arada, the UAE’s newest developer, has announced the launch of East Village – a new creative residential community targeting the younger generation – at the $6.3-billion Aljada, a 24-million-sq-ft mixed-use lifestyle destination located on the last large plot of undeveloped land in the heart of Sharjah.






The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) has achieved a major construction milestone with the successful completion of the reactor containment building (RCB) dome for Unit 4, the final unit of its Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant located in the Al Dhafrah region of Abu Dhabi.






Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has completed the construction work on the calcination process facility of the Al Taweelah alumina refinery after more than 2.4 million hours of work. Al Taweelah alumina refinery is the first to be built in the UAE, and will refine bauxite ore into alumina, the feedstock for aluminium smelters.






Imkan starts work on key projects Imkan, a UAE-based property developer, said work has started on three of its big projects in Abu Dhabi – Makers District, Nudra and Sheikha Fatima Park.






 Majid Al Futtaim has launched Tilal Al Ghaf, its flagship community in Dubai, which is designed to be mixed-use destination representing about Dh14-billion ($3.81 billion) worth of investment over the next 10 years.






HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved plans for the development of three new residential communities in Dubai with a total of 10,000 plots, said a report.






Work at Creek Horizon, Emaar Properties’ residential project in Dubai Creek Harbour is on track and has now reached the ground level, according to SSH, a leading masterplanning, infrastructure, building design and construction supervision firm in the Middle East.






Emaar Hospitality Group, a subsidiary of Emaar Properties, has signed a partnership deal with Arada, a joint venture between KBW Investments and Basma Group, to launch three new hotels in Sharjah.
