Al Shirawi Contracting Company has established a track record of accepting challenges and emerging successful - and one such latest project is the Knowledge Village located near Dubai Media City and part of Tecom ((Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone), according to S Sekhar, general manager.






RAK Ceramics supplied more than 28,000 sq m of porcelain and ceramic tiles with matching decor tiles and accessories to the Knowledge Village, the latest addition to the company's extensive list of projects that span the globe.






One of the UAE's leading architectural decorators has crafted a myriad of GRC (glass reinforced cement), GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and GRG (glass reinforced gypsum) architectural features - including one of the largest GRP domes in the region - for the Knowledge Village project.






Constructing 13 buildings - each different from the other - involving a total built-up area of 1 million sq ft is no mean task. The challenge was further compounded by the fact that they were all to be completed on a fast-track basis within a span of one year.






The MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) works at the Knowledge Village, a high-tech project, was executed using the latest engineering skills and technology, says International Electromechanical Services Company (IEMSC), a pioneer MEP contracting company in the UAE.






Sharjah-based Intex Universal has supplied and installed high-quality locally-manufactured partition systems and false ceilings at 13 buildings at the Knowledge Village within a span of five months.






Oman Cable Industry (OCI), which supplied power and wiring cables for the Knowledge Village in Dubai, says it is fast becoming a market leader for cables and conductors in the Middle East.






A focus on quality and timely completion of projects has been instrumental in helping Leaders Aluminium and Glass Industries complete all the aluminium and glazing works and the skylight for the Knowledge Village project to the satisfaction of the client.






Contractors are now putting the finishing touches to a one million sq ft centre for excellence in learning and innovation, which has sprouted along a one-kilometre stretch of Dubai within a span of one year.
