Aluminium sector gets boost

ABOUT 166 companies from 24 countries took part in the three-day Aluminium Dubai 2009 Exhibition held at the end of last month at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The show, which covered over 6,000 sq m at the Sheikh Rashid Hall, recorded a 100 per cent growth in exhibiting companies and a 150 per cent increase in space demand as compared to the 2007 edition, according to the organiser Reed Exhibitions Middle East
The event was inaugurated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.
Over 40 per cent of exhibiting companies this year showcased midstream technologies such as aluminium extrusion, casting and heat treatment, while smelting, plant engineering, fabrication and other technologies made up the rest.
The exhibitor portfolio at this year’s edition included products used for building and construction, transportation, electrical and mechanical engineering, factory equipment, packaging, and container construction, as well as those used in design-oriented applications.
Besides Dubal and Emal, key UAE exhibitors at the show included Al Jaber Aluminium Extrusions, Alba Tower Aluminium Factory, Atbin International, Gulf Extrusion, Inma-Gulf Development and Construction, CIE Environment Dubai and Smartouch, among others. Emirates Extrusion, Flexipack and Everlast Access Technology were part of the Dubai Export Development Company stand, promoting UAE products.
