Qatar expo set for record

01 April 2009

AROUND 900 exhibitors and 22 national pavilions from 38 countries spread over 36,000 sq m of exhibition space will feature at this month’s Project Qatar 2009, making it the largest-ever exhibition in the event’s six-year run, according to IFP Qatar, the event’s organiser.

The event has exceeded all expectations with a 33 per cent increase in exhibition space, project manager Michel Gebrael said.
The event also features as many as 150 local exhibitors, he added.
Project Qatar 2009 – The Sixth International Trade Fair for Construc-tion Technology, Building Materials, Equipment and Environmental Tech-nology in Qatar –  will take place from April 27 to 30 at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
Gebrael said Project Qatar 2009 will once again be showcasing an array of companies specialising in construction technology, building materials, equipment and environmental technology.
Also for the first time, running alongside Project Qatar 2009, will be HeavyMax 2009, a premier international exhibition for heavy machinery, equipment, vehicles and construction plants.
“Due to industry demand, which is expected to grow by up to 20 per cent over the next few years, and the massive wave of projects which has turned the region into one of the world’s largest markets for plant, construction machinery, vehicles and equipment, HeavyMax was created,” Gebrael said.
Another first for Project Qatar will be a one-day conference to be held on the second day of the exhibition. Dubbed as ‘Green Zone’, the meeting will dwell on sustainable green buildings and energy-saving issues and aim at enhancing the exchange of information and expertise in the field of research, development and applications while strengthening ties between researchers and those involved in the field of deregulation of this sector.
