MORE than 170 exhibitors from 26 countries are expected to promote their latest products and services at the three-day Dubai International Wood and Wood Machinery Show 2009, when it opens this month at the Dubai Airport Expo.
In addition to showcasing the best wood products and most advanced wood machineries, the event will also capitalise on the stability of demand in the regional market amidst the global economic downturn, says Saif Hashmath, exhibition director for Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions, the show’s organiser.
This year, visitors can expect a wide array of products from major players from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the US. Exhibitors from Brazil, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Russia are also taking part.
Among the exhibitors are members of the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufactu-rers (Eumabois), which has pledged its support for the next three editions of the show. Eumabois is representing 13 national associations of major Europe-based manufacturers of machines and accessories for woodworking.
Another main participant is the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), which will be hosting 20 US companies.
Meanwhile, first-time Malaysian exhibitor Java Incorporated says it is expecting to rake in $20 million in regional sales from 2009 to 2010, amidst their intensive efforts to attract more business from the Middle East
About 5,000 visitors attended the show last year, marking a 35 per cent increase compared to the 2007 event.
The 2009 event will be held from April 21 to 23 at Dubai Airport Expo.
