Dubai woodshow grows 30pc
THE Dubai International Wood and Wood Machinery Show 2009 has concluded with more than $79 million in closed deals among global participating companies.
The fourth edition of the show, which ran at the Dubai Airport Expo last month (April 21 to 23) has witnessed 30 per cent growth in terms of exhibitor turnout and ended with an overall positive feedback from global, regional and local participants alike.
The UAE’s Jamco Group won the largest deal, securing over $54 million in construction materials sales. Stallinger ME from Austria closed deals worth $20 million; Alomi worth $3 million; and UAE Enterprises secured $2 million of deals.

Focus on waste management
THE Middle East Waste Summit 2009 (Mews) has received a significant boost with Dubai Municipality lending its full support to the event, being held at the Dubai Airport Expo Centre this month (May 26 to 28).
Dubai Municipality has initiated the summit as a major platform for environmental professionals from all over the world to engage in a variety of discussions focusing on caring for the environment through the implementation of sustainable waste management and recycling initiatives.
Likewise, the event sets the stage for environmental experts to exchange experiences and know-how to positively impact the environment and the quality of life in the Middle East. The GCC region ranks among the top-10 waste producers in the world.

Conexpo now part of bauma China
FOLLOWING an agreement between Messe München and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), Conexpo Asia is to be included in bauma China for the first time from next year.
The fifth edition of this international trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, construction vehicles and equipment takes place from November 23 to 26, 2010 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai.
“This cooperation is set to give yet another boost to international, especially US, participation at bauma China in Shanghai,” says Eugen Egetenmeir, deputy managing director of Messe München.
At the last bauma China in November 2008, 81 of the 1,608 exhibitors were from the US. Over the last four events, bauma China has developed into a leading trade fair for the construction machinery sector in China and Asia. With 210,000 sq m of exhibition space, bauma China is the biggest and most successful trade fair in Asia for the sector.
