Bamardouf launches new range of tiles

01 February 2000

Bamardouf Decoration Establishment of Saudi Arabia has launched a new range of gypsum tiles on the market.

''Our new product is a range of 60 mm sq gypsum tiles with aluminium foil on the back of the tile and a vinyl layer on the front,'' says Khaled Assad, sales executive of the Riyadh-based firm.

Bamardouf, which trades in a range of building products such as tiles, sheets, ceiling panels, sealants and adhesives, manufactures its own range of ceiling strips at its Metal Suspended Ceiling Factory.

The Metal Suspended Ceiling Factory, was established in Riyadh in 1989 and another smaller facility was later built in Al Khobar to meet to market demand.

The factory has earned a reputation for quality aluminium pre-painted and super bright ceiling strips, says Assad.

The aluminium strips' qualities include: low specific weight, good formability, wide range of surface finishes (in quality, colour and pattern), varied applications, good resistance to corrosion and long-term temperature durability of up to 80 deg C, according to the company.

The company's production capacity is 100,000 sq m per year.

Last year, Bamardouf 's Metal Suspended Ceiling Factory established a warehouse and office operation in Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, UAE, in a bid to target the CIS markets in a big way.

The warehouse is being used as a re-export base for CIS countries.

''The Jebel Ali operation enables us to maintain a reasonable stock of ceilings and gypsum board accessories aimed at the CIS countries,'' says managing director Fahad Bamardouf Alamodi. ''This represents a big jump into a new market but the potential business is very good.''

The company in Jebel Ali operates under the name of BAMA Trading.

Over the past two years, Bamardouf has continued to focus on its manufacturing and distribution operations in the Kingdom and has opened another branch in Riyadh.

The company has added more varieties of floor tiles and also introduced new ceiling tiles from South Korea.

Bamardouf's other line business, is predominantly marketing of wholesale false ceilings.

The products Bamardouf markets include:

  • Noncombustible mineral fibre acoustic ceiling panels from National;

  • Toyo Tex ceiling tiles;

  • USG Auratone random fissured and illusion panels and tiles;

  • Armstrong range of ceiling and acoustical wall systems;

  • BCIC line of flooring including flexible and semi-flexible tiles; self-adhesive do-yourself tiles; antistatic tiles; PVC (polyvinylchloride) sheets; skirting; levelling compounds; maintenance products; sealants and adhesives and laminated tiles;

  • Recessed luminaires with aluminium louvers for suspended ceilings from Al Khajah; and

  • PVH carpet tiles.

    Bamardouf recently completed a major order for the Kingdom Hospital in Saudi Arabia, supplying a quantity of around 8,000 sq m of acoustic ceilings from Armstrong for the project.
