01 February 2000

Rockfon says its ceilings are preferred solutions for offices, hospitals, schools, buildings for sport and leisure, retail outlets, and industry.

The Rockfon Group of companies is a leading European manufacturer of acoustic ceilings. The companies manufacture a wide range of stone wool-based products, which are said to contribute positively to a good indoor climate and fulfil the highest demands for acoustic properties, aesthetics, fire protection and hygiene.

Rockfon offers three ranges: the Design Line, Feature Line and Technical Line.

A company spokesman elaborates: ''Design Line products are for areas where visual appearance is of high priority. The different edge details and the many well-defined white surfaces allow for an extensive number of combinations, allowing the choice for individual ceilings and interior design. Using different mounting systems and edge details, many potential patterns and frieze solutions can be created. Altogether, the ideal balance between aesthetics and performance.''

''The Feature Line products,'' he continues, ''are supplied with square cut edges and are for an exposed grid system. They include a number of well-defined surface variations with some products having the same surface finish as those in the Design Line.

''The Technical Line has additional properties, for specific applications. The line comprises industrial ceiling panels and multiflex baffles for noise reduction within industrial area; Cosmos for direct mounting in halls and underground car-parks; Samson, which combines sound absorption and the impact resistance, for sports and leisure facilities; and Hygienic Plus, for clean room environments such as laboratories, hospitals and food processing areas.''

The basic material of Rockfon ceilings is stone wool, which gives the products a number of built-in properties. The ceilings will not burn, are acoustic regulating, will withstand up to 100 per cent relative humidity and are 100 per cent dimensionally stable when exposed to extremes of moisture, heat and cold, the spokesman says. Their built-in properties, in combination with unique design and easy-to-clean hygienic surfaces contribute to a good indoor environment irrespective of their application, he adds.
