THE Big 5 PMV, the region’s most important event for construction plant, machinery, equipment and vehicles, will be staged in a new world-class home in Dubai, UAE.
The third edition of the event – which runs alongside The Big 5 from November 23 to 26 – will take place in The Arena, Sheikh Saeed Halls, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
The new state-of-the-art exhibition halls have been built to a superior technical specification, allowing the huge construction machinery that Big 5 PMV hosts to be displayed for the first time in the main body of the exhibition centre, with ceiling heights ranging from 10 m to 14 m.
This year, visitors will be able to travel to the exhibition via the new Dubai Metro. The Dubai World Trade Centre metro station is located immediately adjacent to the new halls, significantly improving access to the venue.
The 2008 event attracted professionals from some of the region’s most influential construction companies such as Abu Dhabi Airport Company, Al Futtaim Carillion, Al Habtoor Engineering and Arabtec.
There will be several national pavilions at this year’s event, including Italy, Korea and China, highlighting the ongoing interest of international plant, machinery, equipment and vehicle manufacturers in the Mena (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Nick Webb, director of Streamline Marketing Group, organiser of the Big 5 PMV, says: “While the current downturn has affected the construction industry globally, the latest projections are positive for the fourth quarter of 2009. European economies are beginning to improve and the UAE is expected to be one of the first markets to fully recover from the slowdown, with many construction projects scheduled to resume towards the end of this year.”
An extensive range of plant, machinery, equipment and construction vehicles will be on display at the show. The event has already attracted a wide range of international and local exhibitors, keen to showcase their latest products and services, and increase their presence in the Middle East construction market. Some companies will be making their Middle East debut at the event and many will be looking to find exclusive distributors in the region.
Among the confirmed exhibitors are Marini-Fayat Group from Italy, Oy Scaninter Nokia from Finland, UAE-based Al Laith Scaffolding, Liugong from China and Triaso from Mexico.
JCB Middle East has also confirmed its participation and JCB’s famous ‘dancing diggers’ will perform at the event, bringing an exciting new element for both visitors and exhibitors to enjoy.
A team of experts driving backhoe loaders will perform amazing routines. The diggers will circle and move past each other with split-second precision, and with only inches to spare. The drivers will even use their hydraulics to lift the diggers clear of the ground and perform hand-stands.
Visitors will be able to see, touch and test the latest innovations and technologically advanced apparatus designed to fulfil current and future construction requirements.
Power Quality & Technology (POQUTEC) will launch its PBS 210 – II hydraulic breaker and pedestal boom breaker whereas Applied Systems Associates (aSa) will showcase new rebar software applications using barcoding and touch-screen technology.
Scott Leib, president of AsA, says: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce our products and services to the Middle East market at the Big 5 PMV. We expect that the show will open the door to beneficial business opportunities and partnerships.”
The Big 5 PMV (www.big5pmv.com) will be open from 11 am to 8 pm daily.
