CARRARAMARMOTEC 2010 – the International Fair for Marble, Technology and Design – will celebrate its 30th year by showcasing new ways to use natural stone in modern applications.
The event will be held from May 19 to 22, 2010, at the CarraraFiere complex in Carrara, Italy.
The 2010 edition will have a new, modern and dynamic format – the ‘Natural Stone Vision’ – to promote besides quality, the ‘Made in Italy’ brand, and Italian styles.
CarraraFiere, the expo’s organiser, has set up three awards to recognise excellence in natural stone and technology.
The Marble Architectural Awards (MAA) is open to architects and designers with original works, who have demonstrated excellence in the use of natural stone.
The Dressed Stone Design Award is open to students at universities and design schools and under-30 designers and includes a category for companies that have excelled in natural stone design in 2009–2010.
And the Innovative Design Technology Award aims to promote exhibitors who have designed ground-breaking forms and solutions in terms machines and plant.
At the 2010 event, the organiser aims to highlight the fair’s significance to the country’s marble industry. “Carrara is home to an entire marble production chain in Italy and it’s natural that the fair presents the best of both local and world products,” says CarraraFiere Giorgio Bianchini, adding that the 2010 fair will continue to be a showcase for the latest techniques and trends in the world of marble.
